Sonny Rollins - Blue 7 - Saxophone Colossus.

I might try to head to the beach today, with some Sonny Rollins.

This album was recorded in a single day.

This album was/is gigantic, er, colossal.  Every.  Single.  Song.  The tone and attack are stellar.  Recorded three years before Trane did “Giant Steps”, there’s no question that Sonny raised the bar for his sax nemesis with this masterful Rudy Van Gelder recording.
